I was born in Fulwood in 1958, and brought up in Ecclesall.
I am an engineer and, after a time living in Asia, Europe and London, working for engineering companies, I returned to Sheffield in 1992 to take over the family business, Rotary Electrical – still running today as Rotary Engineering and Rotary Electrical Services, exporting to over 60 countries.
My wife, Kathryn, and I were married in 1985 and one reason for moving back to Sheffield is that we wanted to bring up our children here. 2 of the 4 were born at Jessop’s.
I am passionate about my home town and I have taken on several voluntary roles in business, education and health.
Hobbies & Community
I have worked hard to help reduce health inequalities and reduce the number of mixed sex wards in Yorkshire hospitals.
I am a keen sailor, enjoy watching Rugby (but my playing days are now over!). I can often be seen cycling (slowly) through Whiteley Woods to the Mayfield Valley. I have also been known to try my hand a rock climbing at Stannage (but usually need a hand up).
I am a member of a local church (Ecclesall) where I have been a member of its Church Council, a Church Warden and have led groups from there to other countries including India.
